On March 26, CVSA petitioned FMCSA to amend § 393.87, Warning flags on projecting loads, to require that CMVs with added items or equipment that extend beyond 4 feet from the rear of the vehicle must have the extremities of the added device or equipment marked with lamps and/or flags.

On March 11, CVSA resubmitted its petition FMCSA to amend § 393.86, Rear impact guards and rear end protection, by removing § 393.86(a)(6), Certification and labeling requirements for rear impact protection guards, from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Petition to Update Level VI Out-of-Service Criteria Incorporation by Reference
December 3, 2024
On Dec. 3, CVSA petitioned FMCSA to amend the Hazardous Materials Safety Permit regulations to update the incorporation by reference of “North American Standard Level VI Inspection Procedures and Out-of-Service Criteria for Commercial Highway Vehicles Transporting Transuranics and Highway Route Controlled Quantities of Radioactive Materials as defined in 49 CFR Part 173.403” to reflect the newest edition, which will be effective April 1, 2025.
Petition to Update Operational Policy 4 Incorporation by Reference

On Dec. 3, CVSA petitioned FMCSA to amend the incorporation by reference of CVSA’s “Operational Policy 4: Inspector Training and Certification” to reflect the newest edition, which was revised on Sept. 12.

On Nov. 8, CVSA resubmitted an updated petition FMCSA to amend Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) § 392.60 to require written or electronic documentation of authorization for passenger(s) in a CMV.
