| Summary of Issue | Policy 14 section II page 17 under suspension. The guidance is mainly referring to leaf springs. If we can add air suspension to the guidance it will remove any confusion when it comes to air suspension. |
| Justification or Need | I reviewed an inspection where all four air bags on the trailer were deflated and the inspector only wrote one violation. In Policy 14 guidance it states to document each violation type separately per axle end which means it would be four separate violations. My question is should we write four violations instead of one since in most cases the deflation has to do with the leveling valve being defective? I can see getting a dataq for stacking if four violations are written. |
| Request for Action | Depending on what the committee decides, some clarification should be addressed in CVSA Policy 14 under suspension. It could be as simple as adding air bags after the words leaf spring assembly (leaf spring assembly/air bags). Whatever the decision is it will help inspector's roadside and any dataqs that are submitted. |
