| Summary of Issue | Adding language to Operational Policy 14 to better clarify when a violation of the 393.75(g) tire load limit should be documented. |
| Justification or Need | "TIRES Document each violation separately. NOTE: If a violation of state/province/territory weight laws (e.g., 2,500 lbs. over axle weight) is discovered, and the tire load is in excess of the tire weight rating, the violations shall be documented separately." Inspection reviews have showed inspectors documenting violations of 393.75(g) incorrectly. Clarification of the requirement for each axle end to be weighed would assist in the reduction in incorrect noting of this violation. |
| Request for Action | Add the following language to Operational Policy 14, adding clarity to documenting violations of 393.75(g). TIRES: When weight exceeds the tire load limit on an overweight axle, a violation of each wheel end shall be documented. **NOTE - Violations for tire load limit shall not be documented unless each wheel end has been weighed separately** |
