Summary of Issue

with many intermodal chassis equipped with LED lights, the issue of a Light out needs to go back to the IEP and not the trucker, if the light is out and all other lights work it is a function that the unit has a short in the wiring system, not something the driver can not check on a pre trip if all his lights work...The driver cannot inspect for wire shorts...Please help us and the industry point the OOS to the correct person so proper repairs can be made

Justification or Need

The facts of LED lights is that all diods would have to be out for no light,, so when a light is out it is beyond the driver to determine if it was caused by a wire short...the lights work at pre trip and stop working in transit...not a driver issue..should be and IEP issue to make sure the repairs are made once the box is removed form the chassis and all wires inspected..

Request for Action

asking that all LED light violations be pointed to the IEP if the majority of the light are working and only one or two are out is a sign of wiring issues..The LED works if it has a good power source, and today's tractor plugs are much more secure than years ago..
