| Summary of Issue | We are marketing a new patented synthetic textile chain assembly. Made with Dyneema patented fibers, marketed as \"the strongest fiber in the world\". This new technology for load securement is extremely popular in Europe and we are now marketing in North America. This product has been thoroughly tested and approved by various agencies. In North America, it does not exactly fit into WSTDA T-1 synthetic tiedown standard, nor does it fit with NACM steel chain standards. It is much closer to a synthetic tiedown, but with differences. The issue is until we can develop a new standard for this unique product, how can we address roadside enforcement? I will send test data, certifications, and a unique FMEA (Failure Mode Evaluation analysis) we have worked on to support the veracity of this product. |
| Justification or Need | As this product will very shortly be in the field, we need to address enforcement quickly. Can we get this in Ops 15 as an enforcement recommendation? We currently affix metal tag with WLL stamped on it, and a warning label with warnings affixed as well. |
| Request for Action | At this point, I would like to see a written approval for the enforcement of this product to be put in writing so all prospective customers can see for themselves. My request would be for this to be in Ops 15 at this point. |
