| Summary of Issue | An issue request was submitted to CVSA and closed. 08-037-VEH. A discussion in Atlanta in PCC was raised concerning clarification of an exhaust leak vs a discharge in relation to a bus. The current OOSC wording would only permit an OOS condition for a leak on gasoline powered buses. The OOS condition for other powered engines only applies to an exhaust discharge. See attached recommendation and current wording. |
| Justification or Need | The OOSC needs to be clarified to determine if an exhaust leak is considered the same as a discharge. This should be completed prior to the publication of the next OOSC. |
| Request for Action | Clarify if the intent of OOSC 5. (b) is to have a leak and a discharge considered the same for OOS purposes, or if the leak and the discharge have 2 different conditions for OOS. See attached document for suggested wording if a leak and discharge is to be considered the same thing. Also, the amendment would edit \"sleeper\" to \"passenger\" in order to include all exhaust leaks under the driver or passenger compartment of a truck, tractor or bus if there is entry into the applicable compartment. |
