Summary of Issue

Myself, as well as other NTC Part B and PVI instructors, have observed numerous students, as well as officers in the field, when checking steering wheel lash, go immediately to the OOSC, rather than checking 393.209(b)(1) to see if a violation is even present, as instructed. Myself, as well as other instructors, feel and believe that enforcement will become more accurate, more consistent and more uniform if the steering wheel lash limitation chart from 393.209(b)(1) was incorporated in to Part II - 9.a. of the OOSC, similar to how the brake adjustment limitations were added into Part II - 1.a. of the OOSC.

Justification or Need

Request for Action

I would like to see the addition of the steering wheel lash limitation chart from 393.209(b)(1) incorporated into to the steering wheel lash portion of the OOSC (Part II - 9.a.), similar to how the brake adjustment limitations were added into the brake portion of the OOSC (Part II - 1.a.).
