| Summary of Issue | The problem is identifying long stroke brake chambers vs regular stroke brake chambers. The manufacturing industry of these components is not subject to a set, clear standard. This results in long stroke indicators that are all over the map. |
| Justification or Need | Currently the enforcement community is only aware of 3 different ways to identify a long stroke brake chamber. Through a stamping in the housing, a trapazoidal tag or square port. There are more than these on the market and the efficiency during the inspection of brakes during roadside inspections is being comprimised unless all these options are taken into consideration. |
| Request for Action | A PowerPoint presentation and a draft bulletin have been assembled. Please consider the production of a bulletin and the use of the presentation in order to inform enforcement officers and the industry of what is currently out there. The draft bulletin is attached to the issue, the presentation will be provided to the Vehicle Committee at the meeting. |
