| Summary of Issue | Vehicle Out of Service Criteria Items are not always reflective of issues that pertain to motorcoaches. It is recommended that a small group of Passenger Carrier Inspectors be organized to review all current vehicle related OOSC, to identify what changes may be necessary to specifically address those OOSC that need additional clarification when applied to motorcoaches. One example might be frame cracks - thereis a significant difference between the length of a crack in a tub frame structure like a motorcoach as compare to frame rails on a 5 axle dump truck. |
| Justification or Need | It is important, and the issue has raised its head in light of the FMCSA Operation QuikStrike Investigations. |
| Request for Action | Chair of Passenger Carrier Committee to request volunteers to organize to review current OOSC to identify needed changes. That volunteer committee to present findings at Spring 2014 CVSA Passenger Carrier Committee meeting. This may require coordination with CVSA Vehicle Committee Chair - Kerri Wirachowsky. |
