| Summary of Issue | I have found and other inspectors have found air reservoirs in the air brake systems that are rusted to the point where they are leaking air. These air leaks are in the body of the tank due to the corrosion. At this point, it only meets the OOS criteria if the leak fails the air loss rate test. |
| Justification or Need | I believe this is as important as an air line with an audible leak at other than a proper connection. With the integrity of the tank compromised the potential for rupture is imminent. |
| Request for Action | I would like to see a leaking air reservoir added to the OOS criteria. Suggested Wording An air reservoir (tank) is leaking due to corrosion or damage at a location other than a valve. |
