| Summary of Issue | States that use their violation codes to document Roadside violations on the inspection form. This is producing issues for Carriers to determine the actual FMCSR code, OOS type/code and proof of repair needed. This takes valuable time to research violation codes, and it is impossible to immediately measure the data directly from the inspection report. |
| Justification or Need | This is an inconsistency between the use of one state’s violation codes and the FMCSR codes. Upon receipt of the inspection report from the driver, the carrier needs to be able to quickly determine and extract the information into their system for documentation and measuring. |
| Request for Action | When an officer uses his laptop to enter the state violation codes, their system should be set up to immediately cross-reference the FMCSR code and add it to the Inspection report. This will reduce a carriers time in waiting until the inspection is uploaded onto Encompass to determine the actual FMCSR violation code. |
