| Summary of Issue | I have attached pictures of tires where there are deep cracks in the sidewall down by the bead area near the rim. The current North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria (OOSC) does not speak to this condition unless it can be verified that cords are damaged and it is not always able to be determined. |
| Justification or Need | This appears to be a hazardous condition and should there not be an OOS condition specific to this condition without the need to see exposed cords. |
| Request for Action | Contact the tire manufacturers to find out what causes this and potentially develop OOS language to include this condition without the need for inspectors to see damage to the cord. |
