| Summary of Issue | Cracked or broken rotor or drum brakes are not included in the 20% calculation. |
| Justification or Need | A cracked rotor is currently OOS and repaired before returning to service. In the defective brake 20% criteria, there is no where that the disc (rotor) cracked, can be counted into the 20% criteria. It is OOS under 1.g. Brake Drums or Rotors (Discs) 2) and (3) and is OOS by itself if these conditions are met. So when this condition exists, it is OOS, but it is not included in the 20%, so we can't add it to other service brake defects on other brakes. So if we meet that condition for one brake, then one brake is out of adjustment, then one brake is inoperative, we have 3 out 12 brakes......3 defective brakes of 12 would be OOS but now this would be only 2 defective brakes of 12 and no OOS for 20%. We have it OOS for the rotor, but the other 2 defects keep on going. |
| Request for Action | To have a crack/broken rotor or drum brake added in the 20% defective brakes as well as being OOS on its own. |
