| Summary of Issue | There have been a few instances where inspectors have performed the Tractor Protection System Test and the follows has resulted: The inspectors remove the gladhands and wait for the air to stop flowing from the supply line to check the trailer supply valve and then they have the driver apply the service brake to see if air escapes from the service line indicating a faulty tractor protection valve. At that point in the inspection, air escapes from the supply line, not the service line. This situation is not currently addressed in the 2005-02 Tractor Protection System Inspection Bulletin and it is not indicating whether this situation is possible and if it is out-of-service. |
| Justification or Need | It needs to be determined if this situation can happen and if so, what is causing the problem and should it be an OOS condition. |
| Request for Action | Upon clarification from the brake industry, the Inspection Bulletin needs to be updated to include this situation as well the OOS condition if it is determined that it is an OOS condition. |
