| Summary of Issue | The issue of concern is a steer axle tire making contact with either pitman arm or drag link on extreme left or right turns. I think there is much confusion among inspectors and instuctors alike as to whether this is an out of service condition or not. I know for a fact this is being taught both ways across the country. This is shown as a violation in the NAS Part B Instructor Guide page 5-10 under DVD 5-10-4. The violation is something as simple as adjusting the steering stops and again only occurs on extreme left or right turns, which is not the way we are going to find the vehicle at time of inspection. |
| Justification or Need | It is important that we have uniformity on this issue and to make sure it is being taught the same way across North America. |
| Request for Action | I feel this issue needs to be clarified one way or the other. |
