Summary of Issue

Allow useage of PBBT inspection in lieu of measuring stroke length during a Level I or a Level V inspections.

Justification or Need

Vehicles with disc brakes, or low clearance vehicles does not allow inspector to make the physical measurements of brake stroke lengths.

Request for Action

Allow PBBT brake test results to be used in place of physical stroke length measurements for airbrakes during a Level I or a Level V inspection.Consultation with Tennessee DOT resulted in the attached proposal to amend the Level I procedure. The intent is to amend the Level V procedure as well once the amendment to the Level One Procedure is approved. See Attachment.
