| Summary of Issue | The statement "Emergency Exits required by section 393.62 that are missing, inoperative, or obstructed (393.62 and 393.203)" should not be amended to not be county specific. This wording is not applicable to Canadian or Mexican regulation. |
| Justification or Need | The 49 CFR reference sections are written within the body of the statement instead of referencing the section immediately after the statement. Because the exact wording can not be modified when it comes time to create the Canadian or Mexican version of the OOSC, removing the 49 CFR reference section becomes problematic. These jurisdictions do not implement 49 CFR and it is possible to make the statement reference free. Keeping only the references (393.62 and 393.203) at the conclusion in parentheses solves the problem and would be consistant throughout Part II of the OOSC. |
| Request for Action | Modify the OOSC, Part II, Item 14. BUSES, a. Emergency Exits to read as follows: "Required emergency exits that are missing, inoperative, or obstructed. (393.62 and 393.203)" |
