| Summary of Issue | In the OOSC 1.j. "Tractor-Protection System", it is not clear when a TPV is inoperative. A "NOTE" that matches the TPV Inspection Bulletin would aid inspectors the applying this criteria. Add a note to the 1(j) in the OOSC to give inspectors information related to Inspection Bulletin 2005-02 without them having to look up the information as to when a Tractor Protection Valve and a Trailer Supply Valve are considered defective. |
| Justification or Need | By mirroring the violation steps in the TPV Inspection Bulletin there would be continuity between the two documents. |
| Request for Action | Add a "NOTE" to OOSC 1.j. that reads as follows: NOTE: An inoperative tractor-protection system is defined as one of the following conditions: 1. The trailer supply valve fails to close before pressure drops below 20 psi (138 kpa) 2. When air escapes from the service glad-hand upon brake application after the tractor-protection valve has closed. |
