| Summary of Issue | An inspector discovered damage in the sidewall area of a tire which was similar to that in OOS criteria pg. 120 top two pictures. He described the damage as sidewall separation but the reference was not to b(4). It was to b(3) which does not stand alone. |
| Justification or Need | The damage described appears to be from the sidewall material separating and not from striking an object. If this is a similar condition to a bump or knot then it needs to be included under b(4) as a stand alone type defect and not under b(2)or b(3). |
| Request for Action | If such damage described above fits the bump or knot type defect, language needs added to include this type of condition. b(4)Any tire with visually observed bump, knot, or tear apparently related to tread or sidewall separation. (396.3(a)(1)) |
