| Summary of Issue | California and Oregon are no longer transferring brake push-rod travel measurements onto DOT Roadside Inspection Reports unless there is a brake adjustment "out-of-service" problem discovered on the vehicle(s) inspected. |
| Justification or Need | Needed as to why California and Oregon have discontinued listing brake push-rod travel on DOT Roadside Inspection Reports, and if the industry was consulted prior to making this decision. |
| Request for Action | Landstar would like to see brake push-rod measurements reinstated as a requirement for CVSA Level 1 Roadside Inspections performed in California and Oregon. Landstar utilizes all information provided on Roadside Inspection Reports as a means for monitoring leased equipment. Landstars Periodic Inspections are "measured inspections." Brake push-rod travel listed on Roadside Inspection Reports are compared to measurements listed on previous periodic inspections. This comparison is used to monitor and control the quality of periodic inspections performed by third party vendors. |
