Summary of Issue

Grandfathering of Inspectors - the wording contained in the new "Operational Policy 4" regarding grandfathering does not allow a jurisdiction enough latitude to conduct necessary corrective measures if warranted. Example: if a jurisdiction determines it is necessary to enroll a grandfathered inspector into the new courses and the grandfathered inspector does not successfully complete the course, the inspector still retains "grandfather" status.

Justification or Need

Urgency - to allow a jurisdiction the means to conduct determined necessary corrective measures associated with grandfathered inspectors.

Request for Action

Review attachment "A" and "B" - attachment "A" is the current wording contained in Operational Policy 4. Attachment "B" is proposed wording change with the changes indicated in bold print. Propose wording be changed for the purpose if a grandfathered inspector does not successfully complete the current courses, the grandfathering rights would become void.
