| Summary of Issue | The current OOSC specifically excludes diesel engines from being placed OOS for exhaust leaks under the cab. As recent as 1996, this was not the case. Non-diesel power commercial motor vehicles make up only a very small percentage of the national fleet. |
| Justification or Need | Diesel engines put out harmful and dangerous fumes as do gasoline engines. This needs to be addressed. Diesel exhaust is known to contribute to fatigue. |
