Summary of Issue

It is to determine if violations or defects either existed before the accident and may have contributed to it, or were caused by the crash.

Justification or Need

The purpose of the Post Crash inspection is to determine if violations/defets were pre-existing conditions which may have contributed to the vehicle crash or were, themselves, caused by the resulting crash.

Request for Action

Proposed inspection: An inspection that includes examination of the drivers licence, medical, alcohol and drugs, drivers record of duty status as required, seat belt, vehicle report, brake system, coupling devices, exhaust system, frame, fuel system, turn signals, brake and tail lamps, headlamps, lamps on projecting loads, safe loading, steering mechanism, suspension, tires, van and open top trailer bodies, wheels and rims, windshield wipers, emergency exits on buses, HM rerequirements.
