| Summary of Issue | While at Instructor Inservice, I attended multiple classes about Fraudulent Carriers, Stolen USDOT Numbers, Fraudulent and tampered ELD's. Every time notes on inspections were discussed and how important they are in order to help catch these issues going on in the industry today. It was discussed how many people were not taking notes and how frustrating that is. |
| Justification or Need | After thinking this through it is more important than ever that we ensure that inspectors are taking notes, so that future inspectors can understand what happened on previous inspections. it will help clarify for DataQs and will help if in the future they have to testify in court, and identifying fraudulent carriers and ELDs. |
| Request for Action | I would like to see the Infosys committee add a pop-up box to Safespect, so when you hit Submit for your inspection, and if there is nothing typed in the notes section, the popup box will say, no notes have been added do you want to add them, No or Yes. If yes is chosen, then it will automatically take them to the notes page. If No is selected it will mark it somehow that the inspector chose not to add notes. This will help supervisors to better track the note taking of the units. To many times supervisors are just hearing Oh I forgot. That would eliminate that and will help nationwide to remind inspectors to add notes that are so critical |
