| Summary of Issue | Possible need to update the OOSC Part III, 7(c) - Poison/Edible Materials in the OOSC to reflect the regulation and incorporate Class 6.1 products requiring placards. |
| Justification or Need | I believe the language in the OOSC does not reflect the requirements of HMR 177.841(e), which states that 6.1 materials cannot be transported with edible items unless otherwise specified. The OOSC only captures HM requiring a 6.1 label, but not a 6.1 placard, meaning an item requiring a 6.1 placard (not a label) would be in violation, but not out of service. I think this may be an oversight. |
| Request for Action | Update the OOSC OOSC Part III, 7(c) - Poison/Edible Materials wording to "Transporting requiring poison/toxic or poison/toxic - inhalation hazard label(s) and/or placard(s)..." |
