| Summary of Issue | A fleet of Car Haulers (CRC Transport) received a citation for "Hubs - No visible or measurable lubricant showing in the hub - outer wheel". The suspension is a grease filled hub with a solid hubcap. The grease cannot be seen. |
| Justification or Need | This is not a new design. Grease filled hubs with solid hubcaps have been used on trailers for many years (>20). Drive Axles have utilized solid hubcaps for decades. |
| Request for Action | Add clarification language to OOS 14(i)(5) to differentiate and clarify hubcap styles and ability to see lube/grease. |
