| Summary of Issue | Request a step be added to the inspection criteria(s) for the inspector to review the GVWR/Combined GVWR of vehicles being inspected to verify that a CDL is or isn't required. |
| Justification or Need | Currently in the inspection step provided to inspectors, there is no direction to locate, review or verify the GVWR to determine if the operator is required to have a CDL. During a recent investigation, a new inspector did not verify and compare the GVWR to the driver's CDL. The driver was not placed out of service and within 24 hours was involved in a fatal wreck. |
