| Summary of Issue | Several Canadian Provinces/Territories have a restriction on the CDL with a code \"W\". The purpose of this restriction is for drivers who may have a medical condition that would prohibit them from operating in the United States. |
| Justification or Need | Roadside inspectors in the US may not know what a restriction \"W\" is when looking at a Canadian drivers license. Or even if they do know, they are unsure of what violation to note on an inspection. |
| Request for Action | Add a note in the OOS criteria under the driver portion 3(c) Endorsement and Restrictions that says something along the lines of: Several Canadian Provinces/Territories have a \"W\" restriction on their driver's license which prohibits the driver from operating in the United States. A Canadian driver found operating in the United States with a \"W\" restriction on his/her license should be placed out of service for operating in violation of a restriction. |
