| Summary of Issue | The April 1, 2015 North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria (OOSC) will include a new inspection item under section 15 for loose, temporary seating or seating exceeding the designed seating capacity in a passenger vehicle. The current Inspection Procedure dated 2011 for Passenger Vehicles does not incorporate any direction to check for this item. It is suggested to amend the Inspection Procedure to include this item, in Step 10. |
| Justification or Need | This procedure is used by all Passenger Vehicle CVSA-certified inspectors in conducting their inspections. Seating is not even mentioned at all as an item to check in the current procedure. Since this has now become an out of service item it is important to update the procedure. |
| Request for Action | Amending the Passenger Vehicle Inspection Procedure to include checking proper seating, in Step 10. |
