Summary of Issue

393.108: How is the working load limit of a tiedown, or the restraining value of a friction mat, determined? In the U.S. it gives you a WLL of 50% of the weight placed on it in horizontal movement. If this is used on a flatbed trailer that means that you only need to provide 20% downward pressure to have the load secured.

Justification or Need

If this is left unaddressed it could have devastating results.
