| Summary of Issue | Engine mounting and securement. |
| Justification or Need | Broken engine mounts and support structures can cause the engine to become loose and fall through the frame onto the axle and/or roadway. This would create a serious hazard for steering, axle support, and driveline assembly. It is also possible that fuel lines could be cut and leak fuel onto hot engine parts, thus creating a fire hazard. The engine shown in the attached photo had the right side motor mounts broken, and the exhaust was resting on the frame. This could create an exhaust leak with prolonged rubbing of the exhaust on the frame. |
| Request for Action | Create an OOS condition for any engine mounting or support structures cracked/broken/loose with evidence of engine movement from its normal operating position. This should NOT include the designed flexing of rubber engine mounts to compensate for torque created by the normal operation of the engine. |
