| Summary of Issue | Snow and ice buildup continues to be problematic across all of Canada and much of the United States. There have been countless numbers of collisions involving the ice off of commercial vehicles. Collegues of mine across Canada have asked that I put this on the agenda of the North American Cargo Securement Harmonization Public Forum to determine if snow can/should be included as cargo for the purposes trying to keep it from dislodging and becoming a projectile etc and or impairing vision. |
| Justification or Need | There needs to be a consistent approach to this across jurisdictions currently some jurisdictions are calling snow and ice cargo and others are not...looking for clirification. |
| Request for Action | As stated above looking for guidance or a new section of the cargo securement standard that may include enhanced wording etc to deal with snow and ice as potential life endangering "cargo"?? |
