| Summary of Issue | During a recent visit to Gotta Go Trailways, we were performing several Level V inspections. All of the VanHool busses had an issue with the low air warning not coming on till 35 psi. When we spoke to the representative, Bernard Johnonson, he stated that they were told by VanHool that the busses were manufanctured with a 35 psi setting for low air warning. Upon a follow up conversation with him, he stated that Carlos Saucedo with FMCSA (915-532-1366) told him that under 393.51, 35 psi is ok because it says "and below" after "55 psi". |
| Justification or Need | Please advise if this is a correct interpretation of the regulation or if 55 psi is a minimum for low air warning. |
| Request for Action | Need an interpretation on what is absolute minimum for a low air warning on a vehicle. |
