| Summary of Issue | While working roadside a trooper gets an activation on his/her radiation detection equipment. After stopping the vehicle carrying the radioactive material following all the state's guidelines, the inspector finds out that the vehicle stopped does not meet the federal, or state definition of a CMV. The package carried however does fall into the Hazardous Material regulations(shipping papers, marking, labeling etc.) |
| Justification or Need | I need a clarification on this matter please. |
| Request for Action | I want the CVSA to make a determination on what level of inspection can be conducted on a vehicle, that has been properly stopped following all the state's SOPs, and the only reason the vehicle was stopped is due to an activation of radiation detection equipment. |
