Summary of Issue

Inspection # CODN01004970 O/S Loose Steering Column violation written during a Level VI inspection by the Colorado P.O.E. Vehicle placed OOS under NAS OOS on June 27, 2010. Tractor was inspected by certified Freightliner repair facility. Please refer to notes provided from the repair facility regarding their review of the violation noted on MCSAP report CODN01004970. This unit was brought in to our facility for a inspection of service bulletin 46-42 for proper adjustment and free travel wear. It is in our opinion that this unit is not at risk of failure due to side to side or up and down free travel movement. The gap between the side plate and the locking arm is at 5.2mm which falls between the min. and max. acceptable values of the locking device. We as well inspected another unit of Visionarys unit # 404 VIN #V20732 , it as well fell in to the same criteria of acceptance. It is our opinion as A certified Freightliner repair facility that there is no further repair or adjustment needed at this time these steering columns meet the guidelines set by the manufacture
