| Summary of Issue | The training we receive at our regional training academies is second to none. One thing left out of the course of instruction is taking our findings and putting them on the ASPEN Report. |
| Justification or Need | In calling many jurisdictions about how they document violations on their ASPEN report, I've found it varies in each State. False Log, for instance, is documented once in some States with supporting notes outlining the instances found on the log that support it being false. Some States list all instances as separate violations in ASPEN. Brake adjustments are documented once with note referring to the chart in ASPEN in some jurisdictions. Some are listed as separate and distinct violations in other areas. 14 Hr Rule violations are documented separately in some areas, or considered 1 violation if it is continuing conduct in others. ISS scores are dependant on violations we document. We need to document the same way. |
| Request for Action | I request the CVSA Training Committee review this request to see if an additional Module is need to address this inconsistency. CVSA pushes for consistent inspection procedures by virtue of our standardized training. It is just as important that all CVSA Certified Inspectors are documenting consistently without regard to jurisdiction. |
