Summary of Issue

Defective brakes, bent push rods (photos on page 78 of the OOSC Pictorial Edition)

Justification or Need

The current OOSC does not specifically address a bent push road as an out of service condition. The push rod is not broken, missing, or loose per the criteria in out of service criteria Item 1.a.(2) and (3). The brake is inoperative; however, the push rod is defective.

Request for Action

Clarification. Is a bent push rod an out of service condition? If so, please include a specific reference in the out of service criteria. If a bent push rod is NOT an out of service condition; the pictures showing bent push rods should be removed from the pictorial.
