| Summary of Issue | Issue of leaf spring assembly, whether it meets the guidelines of a safe leaf spring suspension system. Would like CVSA guidance on a suspension system design by Cambria Trailer Suspensions. I am faxing 4 pages from Cambria Trailer Suspensions to accompany this request. This suspension system looks as if it is broken, company says designed that way. |
| Justification or Need | This vehicle was stopped at the Echo Port of Entry in Utah on Monday, August 8th, for an inspection. As no one had seen this type of suspension before, and as it looks to be unsafe, we would like a definitive answer to know if it is okay and safe for use. Awareness of this type of suspension for all inspectors out there. Need to understand if this suspension is a legal one. |
| Request for Action | Vehicle committee needs to review design and indicate if it is appropriate, and perhaps provide examples in the OOS criteria of some such designed suspension systems. |
