Summary of Issue

There is a concern relating to how load securement violations are cited. A careful review of numerous carrier profiles revealed that there is inconsistency among inspectors relating to whether they cite the driver or the vehicle for the violation.

Justification or Need

The vehicle should be cited to ensure that it would not be returned to the road until the OOS condition is corrected.

Request for Action

The Vehicle Committee clarify this matter by issuing a statement that vehicles should be cited for load securement violations.
