    The CVSA Board of Directors voted to offer this year’s CVSA Workshop virtually. The workshop is a CVSA event where the commercial motor vehicle law enforcement community, government officials and the motor carrier industry work together in support of the Alliance’s mission.

  • Terry Kummer Joins CVSA as New Director of Crash Data and Investigation Standards

    Terry Kummer joined CVSA on Jan. 11, 2021, as its new director of crash data and investigation standards. He will be responsible for developing and managing a uniform standard for conducting commercial motor vehicle crash investigations and collecting and reporting crash data.

  • International Roadcheck Set for May 4-6 with Emphasis on Lighting and Hours of Service

    CVSA set May 4-6 as the dates for this year’s International Roadcheck. Over that 72-hour period, commercial motor vehicle inspectors in jurisdictions throughout Canada, Mexico and the U.S. will conduct inspections on commercial motor vehicles and drivers.

    Jake Elovirta joined CVSA on Jan. 4, 2021, as its new director of enforcement programs. He will be responsible for developing and managing the Alliance’s traffic enforcement safety programs, projects and training.

  • CVSA Releases 2020 International Roadcheck Results

    More than 50,000 North American Standard Level I, II, III and V Inspections were conducted throughout Canada, Mexico and the U.S. during 2020 International Roadcheck. The overall vehicle out-of-service rate in North America, for Level I, II and V Inspections combined, was 20.9%.

  • CVSA to Offer COHMED Conference and Data Training Virtually, Cargo Forum Canceled

    The 2020 North American Cargo Securement Harmonization Public Forum has been canceled. The 2021 Cooperative Hazardous Materials Development (COHMED) Conference will be offered virtually on Jan. 25-28, 2021. And CVSA/FMCSA Data Quality and Systems Training will be a virtual training event offered March 1-5, 2021.

  • CVSA Releases 2020 Brake Safety Week Results

    During this year’s Brake Safety Week, 12% of the 43,565 commercial motor vehicles inspected were placed out of service for brake-related violations. Inspectors from Canada, Mexico and the U.S. removed 5,156 commercial motor vehicles from roadways due to brake violations.

  • CVSA Releases New Video on the Future of Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement

    CVSA released a new stop-motion video envisioning the future of commercial motor vehicle safety technology, inspections and enforcement. This four-minute video takes the viewer to a future – near and far – that’s safer for all road users.

  • International Roadcheck is Underway

    Today is the start of International Roadcheck, CVSA's annual 72-hour, high-visibility inspection and enforcement initiative. During International Roadcheck, Sept. 9-11, inspectors in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. will conduct commercial motor vehicle and driver inspections to verify compliance with driver operating requirements and vehicle mechanical fitness.
