| Summary of Issue | Increase the out-of-service period from 8 hours to 24 hours for the out of service condition of no log book in possession when required. Item number 12 of Part I of the out of service. |
| Justification or Need | If a driver is faced with the possibility of being placed out of service for a period of 24 hours or more for a violation of the 60/70 hour rule, he or she may tell the inspector they have no log book and only face an 8 hour out of service condition. This should be put in place in the interest of public safety. |
