| Summary of Issue | The regulations require any modification, welding, drilling of holes, or repair of the frame to be done in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. This defect is not currently in the enhanced standard and should be added to Section 8.5. |
| Justification or Need | The Enhanced CMV Inspection Standard needs to include any defect of the regulations to ensure the vehicle is not placed on the road in a condition that there would be a violation on a roadside inspection. |
| Request for Action | Add an in-transit defect to the Enhanced CMV Inspection Standard for any modification, welding, drilling of holes, or repair to the frame that is not in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. The Periodic CMV Standard should also be updated to reflect the same conditions. |
