| Summary of Issue | The Enhanced CMV Inspection Standard indicates that aggregate wear holes across a mud flap would be considered a defect. Aerodynamic mud flaps will have manufactured holes across the surface of the mud flap. A note should be placed in Section 8.19 to clarify the holes in these mud flaps would not be a defect |
| Justification or Need | Clarification that these mud flaps can be used and not considered a defect needs to be given to inspectors. |
| Request for Action | Place a note in Section 8.19 providing guidance to inspectors that the aggregate of more than four inches of holes across a mud flap should not be applied to aerodynamic mud flaps. The Periodic CMV Standard should also be updated to reflect the same conditions. |
