| Summary of Issue | In SafeSpec, CFR 178.345-6 (HM (Packaging) - DOT 406/407/412 supports and anchoring requirements) does not have an out of service option. In the current out of service, anchors and supports can be out of service; Part III-Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods, (f). Supports and Anchoring- More than 25% of the supporting and/or anchoring mechanisms are ineffective. |
| Justification or Need | I had a roadside inspection on a Spec 406 cargo tank. 2 of 3 anchors on the right side were loose/ineffective and 1 of 3 anchors on the left side were loose/ineffective, meeting the out of service condition. In SafeSpec, I did not have an out of service option to select. |
| Request for Action | Please add an option in SafeSpec for the out of service condition under Support and Anchors, 178.345-6. |
