| Summary of Issue | There is no regulatory guidance pertaining to mismatched tire sizes on opposite ends of an axle. Particularly on a steer axle. |
| Justification or Need | Without being able to weigh vehicles to determine applicability of tire load limits, mismatched tire sizes could present an unreasonable hazard to public safety. There is currently no authority to address this hazard. |
