| Summary of Issue | Email from Saskatchewan - For interpretation: Hi Mike, Hope you are doing well. Wanted to pick your brain on round bales being loaded mushroom style (please refer to pictures below). Our enforcement doesn’t allow this in Saskatchewan, but we can’t find any reference to regulation specifically prohibiting it. The primary concern is securing the bales, Melanie from MB and I don’t like it and think that strapping would not be able to maintain adequate tension because the bales can compress. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks, |
| Justification or Need | Standard 10 does not refer to bails of hail (round or square). As such, standard load securement applies. Group Discussion points: -Does the direction of the bale effect the securement of the load? -Must bales all be loaded in the same direction? -How does USA regulate bales? |
| Request for Action | Canadian regulators are asking for discussion and possible direction to best interpret this issue from the Cargo Securement Harmonization Forum. |
