| Summary of Issue | The Enhanced CMV Inspection program was approved by the CVSA Board in September 2022. The approval of the framework for the Enhanced Inspection was the culmination of a CVSA working group, however there are other issues and specific details that needed to be developed for the full implementation of the program. Several issues include training and certification of inspectors, the frequency of inspections on CMV, and records management, just to name a few broad questions. A full list of questions/issues is attached to this submission to CVSA. |
| Justification or Need | The Enhanced CMV Inspection program needs further specific details contained within the program for it to be fully implemented and used by the autonomous commercial vehicle industry. |
| Request for Action | The request is for the development of a working group which includes, at a minimum: CVSA staff, the autonomous commercial vehicle industry members, law enforcement leaders, commercial motor vehicle inspectors, and FMCSA staff. |
