Summary of Issue

The issue revolves around medical certification information and the need of additional information to support violations of suspended CDLs for medical card info not being provided. Currently, CDLIS will show a CDL as suspended due to a medical card not being provided to the state BMV. However, once the medical info is provided and the state reinstates the CDL, there is no history or information of the CDL being suspended. The CDLIS screen appears as if the CDL was never suspended in the first place. During enforcement actions, the CDLIS screen after reinstatement is useless as supporting evidence.

Justification or Need

This situation has being happening for the last year and is causing enforcement problems. Unless a clear photo of the computer screen can be taken showing suspended status, enforcement lacks a record showing the CDL was suspended at the time of inspection. If the CDLIS driver history can show a history of being suspended for not having medical info and/or the reinstatement date, it will assist enforcement actions by proving a CDL was suspended on date of inspection.

Request for Action

We would like some fields to be added to CDLIS in the medical examiner info area. The things we would like added include, but are not limited to: 1. The date the current medical card info was uploaded into CDL/state BMV. 2. The date prior medical card info expired. 3. CDLIS screen to show a history of CDL suspensions related to not submitting medical info to BMV.
