Summary of Issue

Driveline/Driveshaft Violation Out-Of-Service. During an inspection this week we found a carrier bearing rubber support working its way out of the carrier bearing bracket. The driveline/driveshaft was starting to make contact with the rubber support and causing damage. The driver stated this bracket, support and bearing had only been in-service for one week. The driveline/driveshaft could not be moved by hand pressure more than 1/8th inch and could not be noted as a violation under the current regulations or Out-Of-Service Criteria. Four pictures included.

Justification or Need

Urgent.

Request for Action

We believe this should be noted as a critical inspection item and a possible Out-Of-Service violation. We move for a change to the current Out-Of-Service Criteria to include any apparent movement of the carrier bearing support or bracket coming in contact with the driveline/driveshaft as OOS.
