| Summary of Issue | Exhaust system on Setra bus. During a recent inspection of a Setra bus I observed that the manufacturer had installed an exhaust where the bottom half of the pipe was cut away as far back as 22 inches from the rear of the bus. The company representative stated that because it is a \"regen\" system that it was ok. |
| Justification or Need | Need to know if being a regen system alters requirements for a diesel exhaust. |
| Request for Action | Please issue an interpretation or rule regarding exhausts and regen systems if there is a less stringent requirement for distance from rear of vehicle. |
